Drained the hydraulic fluid out of the final drives today and then started looking for the fill plugs. The right side has the fill plug on the outside facing the front just like the operators manual shows. The left side has no fill plug on the outside. Can I use the two plugs on the inside up next to an inspection cover? Is it normal for the two sides to be so different? The right side used pipe plugs for drain and fill and the left side had countersunk 3/8 square hole plugs in both locations. Thought this also was unusual. Has someone replaced one of the finals?

As usual thanks for all the help.
John

The fill plugs on my 350 are on the inside of the finals, more or less facing each other. The finals are interchangeable. Right to left makes no difference. The plugs are all pipe thread, just different drives. I changed all of mine to 3/8 socket drive or allen key to avoid rock damage to the exterior square drive. They are hard to get out if they get rounded off.
