I recently bought a jd350 dozer 1965 I believe. I was wondering if parts from A 350B 350C would fit.Parts such as sprockets, chains, reversers, final drives etc. I also have a question about reverserer. When run forward everything sounds normal but when in reverse there is a whine wondering if this is normal or if is a problem.

Most parts interchange, some do not. Some parts, if you order new, will automatically updgrade to parts in newer crawlers. 350B is almost the same machine as a 350, but the C has some major differences associated with the wet steering clutches and has a slightly larger engine. Remember also that early 350s differ from later 350s (before the "B" series). Differences between 350s and 350B include the track-frame crossbar, the torsional isolator that drives the reverser, power steering pump, the input shaft and drum in the reverser, the reverser pump, etc. Also, the transmission case, steering clutch housings, and side-frames were beefed up along the way, but they are interchangable. The reverser, when in forward, is direct-drive - no gears are working. When in reverse, all power is transmitted through a countershaft that is driven by some very noisy straight-cut spur gears that whine and also the input shaft is counter-rotating against the output shaft via a dinky little bearing that often fails in early 350s and 1010s. Later 350s, 350Bs, etc. use a larger center bearing.

Thanks for the info the machine I bought seems to be in pretty good shape for the year. It has a inside manual 6way blade a big winch. It has a gas three cylinder engine that starts and runs like a clock.I leveled a 120 yards of gravel with it the 2 days following the day i bought it.The only things i can see that need attention are the sporcket and chain bushings on the left side are pretty worn the right side seems to have almost no wear.I would also like to try to make blade hydrolic 6way.I paid $4000.00 for the machine with a spare engine that needs a piston and a bunch of spare clutches for the final drives does that sound like a fair price.

Sounds like a very good price. A farmer friend of mine was searching for a "good deal" on a small crawler for years. His preference was a Deere. He finally found a 350 "Loggers Special" with inside mechanical 6-way blade, winch, diesel engine, clutch drive (no reverser). Undercarriage is REAL bad - needs pins, bushing, rollers, new crossbar, etc. Steering clutches and brakes all bad. I rebuilt the engine 20 years ago, but it sat in a field ever since. Suprisingly, added some fresh fuel and it started - and sounds pretty good. He paid $4200 for it.

I found a parts dealer in the area i live in maine. They gave me a price of 175.00 for new sprocket.I was wondering about the chain should i repin and bush or look for new chain.I have friends who are welder&fabricators.Half the rolls on machine have been relaced with new rolls they are greaseless the others seem like they are fine.I was also wondering if 450 chains&rolls are the same.My boss at work has a side construction business and last winter he bought a whole new undercarriage after market for his machine and is not using any of the old stuff.

Tracks and rollers from a 450 series will not fit. Depending on what condition your tracks are in, you might be able to just have the pins and bushings turned (as long as it hasn't been done already and the bushings aren't broken through). Make sure you count the chain links and make sure they're all there. Often, when the tracks get beat, a link gets cut out to get some more adjustment. But, then when you fix the tracks - you're screwed because they're too short and won't fit.

The bushings on the chain that is worn are worn thru i can see the pins they seem to only be worn on the back side. The pins are not worn yet.How many links should be on each chain. Thanks for all the information jdemaris you have been a big help.
