Im thinking about buying a 2002 Bobcat 753. Anyway down at the coffee shop this morning the subject of the hydrostats came up. I said I thought they had 2, 1 for each side. A mechanic there said they have 1 for each wheel and no chains. Im sure someone on this forum can set me or him straight. Thanks.

Bobcat and all other skid-steers I'm aware of have pumps and motors to control each side independently, that is to say the left side has it's very own drive pump and drive motor that only drive the left side of the machine usually thru a series of chains now we have rubber track machines as well that use a single motor to drive the track but the basic principal it exactly the same as a wheeled version. Exact same deal on the right side. I dont know of any that have individual pumps and wheel motors.
