Look in the manuals and enter Traxcavator # 931. 78U should be close enough track gauge would be the difference.

THANKS BOB, I"LL TRY THAT.

THE VIN ON AN AUTO. HAS A LOT OF INFORMATION IMBEDDED IN IT. DOES THE SERIAL NUM. ON THSES MACHINES ALSO CONTAIN DATA? HOW ABOUT THE ARRANGEMENT NUM. AND THE MESS OF NUMS. AFTER THE ENGINE TYPE? HOW DO YOU DECIPHER THEM? I MENTION THIS SINCE YOU REFERRED TO 78U AS BEING CLOSE TO MY MACHINE EXCEPT FOR THE TRACK GAUGE.

LATER,

FRED

Fred, if you look at the main serial# Plate and it has a model# serial# and an arrangement# for the machine and the engine it identifies the model of machine, the serial# prefex 79U is dedicated to that model built in a specific country, the later## the sequence built. The arrangement# is like a part# for the machine or engine. It is dedicated to your exact machine and is important when ordering parts, especially engine parts. Because of the many uses for your engine the arrangement # will get you the parts you need. Mainly intake, exhaust and coolant piping.

THANKS AGAIN BOB,

I"M DIGGING DEEPER INTO THIS MACHINE SO THERE ARE A LOT OF QUES. GLOW PLUG WAS DISCONNECTED AT THE SWITCH. WHY--DON"T KNOW. I CHECKED RESITANCE ON THE PLUG TO GRND. & HAD ABOUT 3.5 OHMS. IS THIS TOO LOW (SHORTED) OR RIGHT? WHEN I TRIED TO REMOVE THE PLUG IT SEEMED LIKE THERE WAS A SPRING HOLDING IT BACK. I DIDN"T FORCE IT AND I CAN"T GET IT OUT. ANY SUGGESTIONS HERE?

UNTIL LATER,

FRED

Fred, I can't say the resistance on yours but on the 24Volt systems I look for 5 Amps a plug draw. Yours should be the same I think. Hook them up and try the draw test. You have a precup engine so when you want to start crank it over for half a min at least before pulling the fuel on. That allows lots of heat to build up the nozzels are low pressure and need lots of heat to fire the fuel.Email if you like.
