I received an old dozer from my son-in-law who died of cancer. He had removed the gas engine for replacement. I have been told it is a case 1010 while others have said a JD 450. I have no knowledge of this or the diff from crawler or dozer. There are no brand markings. I am in need of a course of action as I would like to get this dozer (crawler) going. Any direction will be appreciated. thanks.....rw

1010 Case has a torque-converter drive, the 450 Deere does not. 1010 Case has headlights mounted on the outside and kind of look like "eyeballs." Deere has its headlights inside, behind the grille. Case 1010 has two top rollers, the Deere 450 only has one. Case 1010 has a 382 c.i. Continental diesel engine, the 450 Deere has a Deere engine of various sizes, but all around 202, 219 or 239 cubic inches. Case 1010 has a four speed trans. hooked to the torque converter, Deere 450s are all engine clutch drive - and most are hooked to a hydrualic Hi-Lo-Reverse transmission and four speed gear/range transmission - i.e. there are two shifter levers. Some 450s have a CSS gear transmission, but none have a torque-conveter.
