Just bought a TD-6 B series, has the 6 cylinder diesel, has the hand clutch. The machine has been setting for 20 years in an old barn. The transmission is in netrual but when you tow it ,the tracks skid. The engine is loose and the steering handles move and the foot brakes are all the way back in netraul. if its not in gear, shouldn't the tracks turn? need your help, thanks

If you determine the tracks are frozen you could try rocking it back and forth either by chaining a tractor to both ends or maybe chaining a backhoe bucket to the drawbar and rocking it. I have had success with this method. The worst of it is they usually don't freeze up unless they are near new and the clearances are tight. Badly worn pins and bushings have enough clearance where they wont freeze up. Good luck.

When tracking machines have been sitting for a long time the track joints seize up you wilhave to heat up the joints with oxy-acetalyne but dont heat them up red hot you could damage the shim aroud the pin in the joints. thanks good luck

HI The chain must be freese, loosen the adjuster tension chaineand you knock whit a 16lbs mass in center pad or you put a hydrolique jack between track frame and the chaine and lift.good luck.HECTOR

The tracks are rusted up, yes it should move but if it has sat that long the tracks will freeze up just like any chain will if not used

One more thought remove the two round covers on back of crawler and take a bar and see if brake bands are stuck to drums they can stick even if they are off not saying chains may be stuck but sometimes you get lucky and it is the brakes which have a large mech advantage
