My 350B sat over the winter and I have tried to start it several times even in warm temps. It has almost fired and will show white smoke. Could the fuel be bad? I have never changed fuel filters before. I'm sure the machine is fairly worn in any case. It ran fine when I bought it two years ago.
Where would ether go? There is a device with a plastic tube on the dash, but I found the tube not connected anywhere.

Paivaa Olavi, Miita Kuulu?? Change fuel filters first.. If that doesn't fix it, Check to see if you have fuel coming from tank at the fuel pump suction line. If no or very slight amount there is probably an obstruction at the fuel tank shut-off valve. Blow through the suction line with compressed air [ loosen fuel cap first ].It could be many things causing problem. These should give you an idea about whats going on.Let me know if you need any extra help..Roy

Hi,make sure the batteries are charged good and the engine is turning over fast enough,I would try a small spray of ether into the air intake and see if it fires, you shouldn't need much.If it starts and runs good after that then you might have low compression or slow cranking speed. If it starts and runs poorly then you could still have poor compression, bad fuel, partially clogged filter or air in the system or bad injector timing.

I'll keep you posted, when I get out to try it again with ether.
Cranking speed seemed about 200rpm. I know one of my battery cables needs some work too. I know if I leave my battery connected it will go dead. I have not tried to troubleshoot this yet, but did replace the batt.
My machine has the in line battery switch bypassed.
I appreciate the feedback.

If the device on the dash is for an ether can, the tube should go to the intake manifold. Wouldn't hurt to add some fuel conditioner.

I am learning about the Case machines myself and have no experience at all with the JD's. I do know the perkins diesels alright. The Massey Fergusons to be honest. I know with the massey's there was a small canister (like a short oil filter) that the fuel line runs through. My machines also have small marine type inline filters immediately below the fuel tanks to catch any of the larger gunk out of the tanks. Changing the filters is always a good idea, I am very much a greenhorn self taught operator here, but I would change the filters and bleed the fuel system. Also draining and putting in fresh fuel would be a good idea. If that doesn't work perhaps check the fuel pump to make sure it's working alright. I am not a mechanic just my thoughts!
