Bobcat 763 fuel leak?

Hi all,
I have just about cleared my basement spot of the 50-70 yards of sedimentary rock and granite. Unfortunately (and reluctantly), I rented a breaker for my Bobcat and used it about 10 hours. I was afraid something like this might happen. Now I have a fuel leak. I noticed it after I filled the tank fairly full. I thought I had just filled it too much and the vent tube spilled some in the pan. So I proceeded to use it about 6 hours. Fuel consumption seemed fairly normal and I ran it down to about 1/4 tank. Brought it home and washed it up like I do alot. It still showed some signs of fuel mixed in with the red dirt so I washed real good, even raised canopy and used lots of simple green, and parked it in the barn. Put in 5 gallons of fuel tonight and noticed fresh fuel leaking under the battery tray. I can not tell where it is coming from. I am studying manual now. It appears the tank is some sort of plastic and just has a few rubber lines coming to/from it. All of them look good as best I can tell. I sort of have to assume it is the tank as it started leaking fuel as I put in new fuel without any running. ? Anyone ever have a similar problem they would like to share?
Any ideas where to look next?
It appears engine and all guts have to come out before tank can be pulled? NICE.

Thanks in advance for the responses.

I am leary of the plastic tanks in equipment, although I probably shouldn't be. But, in 1996 I bought a BRAND NEW New Holland skid steer, and in less than 3 hours, I developed a hydraulic leak. The field mechanic made 2 trips, and finally took it to the shop (30 miles away, and no loaner). Nine days later, they finally found that the hydraulic tank (plastic) had split in a seam, and you could only see it leak when it was running. Of course, you had to tear away half of the machine to see the leak, so that's what took so long. Put a new tank on, and no problems since. The guy I sold it to has well over 1,000 hours on it, and no troubles. But, I'm still leary!

Good luck,

Sounds like you might have rattled something loose there. Im not real sure about the 763s but my 743 has the tank behind the seat. Im sure it is accessed by pulling off the cage and taking out the seat. If its the same, you might check the lines that come from the tank down to the filter where they go through the bulkhead between the engine compartment and behind the seat. Seems like a good place for them to rub through. Hope ya find it.
