bought a real nice TD6 with the 282 diesel that has been setting in an old barn for 20 years. Has only 1840 hrs. on the meter, but can't get it to move. Are the brakes stuck? I took the 2 little round plates off in the rear housing , just see some rust. The steering handles move , but the foot brakes are stuck. The tracks and pins are real good too, about 90% undercarriage. Could the pins be froze also. The two brake adjusting screws by your feet with the square heads, should they be screwed in or out to loosen. Thanks for any help.

Big Diesel,

It would be hard to say at this point just what the trouble is.

It sounds like maybe the brakes are froze up, but it maybe the steering clutches are froze up to. (just see some rust) even if the steering handles do move.

Try loosing up the adjusting screws by your feet by turning them out ,there is a steering brake band set screw under the tractor in the main frame, back it out as well, this may loosing up the brakes. You may have to take inspections covers off from the under side of the tractor to help find your trouble. You may have to take the brake linkage loose to see where you are froze up at.

You can check the tracks links and pins with a large bar and hammer (16#er) to see if they are frozen.

Start with the ease things first and work you way into the problem till you location the trouble.

They will be someone with more ideas I am sure.
