Air in Fuel Filter

I have a 310D John Deere backhoe that starts right up and then dies. This only happens when the machine has been sitting for a day or more. After some investigation it looks like when the machine has been sitting there is air in the top of the fuel filter. Once you get the machine running there is no sign of air bubbles in the fuel filter. I have taken the fuel filter off and drained it and checked all the lines. Is there anything else I can check or a way to really inspect the lines? Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

Double check all the line connections on the suction side of the fuel transfer pump. A common cause is a loose elbow or fitting right at the pump. Also remove the fuel line fitting at the top of the tank. Check the Oring on that. Also remove the adapter fitting in the top of the fuel tank. There is another oring in there as well as a draw tube that can be removed. Check all orings and replace. Sometimes replacing the transfer pump will cure the problem as there is a check in there ...but try the "free" items first ..
