My diesel engine 450 will run at idle for as long as you let her. Soon as you start to go to work (pushing a pile or whatever) or driving for more than fifty feet, she dies. Just like she ran out of fuel or something. Put the jumper cables on her (the wiring is iffy) and she'll fire up again. I drained and changed the fuel with fresh stuff. Also installed new Case fuel filters. Any ideas?

Pull the fuel line at the injector pump. If it is clogged with small black particles, the governor ring is coming apart. A seal kit and new governor ring will put you back in business. I had this problem on my 580D last summer and it cost around $40 for parts at the local Stanadyne dealer. Good luck!

We checked all lines and connections and there clean and clear. I also checked the valve from the tank and thats okay. Changed filters including air. Still no go. No idea.

Gunk in the fuel petcock at the tank. We removed the the inside pipe peice on the top of the valve on the inside side. Little stick or something inside it. After that she flowed a lot of fuel. Runs like a top now. I wasn't thorough enough before.

It always seems like it's the little stuff that gets you. You see that alot when people use fuel cans, especially when they sit outside. I'm as guilty as the next guy. Helps if you can keep your cans inside, and run the fuel as soon as possible. Sounds like you got it, though.

Good luck,
Dale
