I have a case 450 crawler 1968 ser#3031271 and want to replace the original oil bath air filter with a removable cartrage type of element I haven"t called case yet but does anyone know if case makes one for the 450 or maybe someone else makes one that I can adapt. I believe the intake diameter is approx. 2-1/2 or 3" ...tks Phil

Phil,

I also have a '68 Case 450 Crawler but it does not have an oil bath air cleaner. The air cleaner is a dry element type (NAPA 2222 as I recall). I'm pretty sure my filter is factory stock.

Do you have the 188 Diesel engine?

Yes, I went to case and they have both systems for the 188 engine. To replace my oil bath system with the dry element type would be very expensive, as all the brackets have to be changed over. I measured the inlet and outlet size and it is 2-1/4" outside measurement. I think the 450B models had the dry type filter. I have a straight 450. I think Racor has a filter that will work, and it is something that you just take off and throw the whole canister away, if I can't make it work I will stick with the system I have.....tks...Phil H
