I have a 1969 Case 450 Dozer. We were using it the other day and it quit pulling. It has plenty of oil in the transmission and hydrolics. Anyone have a sugestion?

Michael,

This usually happens when the filter that runs to the charge pump gets plugged. If your gauges are working look for low torque converter pressure. This filter is attached to the firewall. There is a 2" hose running from it to the charge pump located below the generator.

This is the first place to start. If on the other hand your Torque Converter pressure is okay the filter is probably okay too.

If you service this filter screen be sure to fill the hose running to the charge pump with transmission oil right before you start the machine up again. This primes the charge pump.

Best of luck,
John

Case 450 filters in reply to stressfree, 06-28-2005 01:43:13

For the transmission I used the following filter: Case A13211
I also used the following gaskets: Case D21006 and Case A27577

For the Hydraulic filter (located under the right hand arm rest) I used the following filter: Case D75831
My notes show that this filter has its gasket included. I had to use a big pipe wrench on the bottom of the filter housing as its been stripped up from previous wrenching.

Just got my 188 back together the other weekend. Cranked it over with the injectors lines off for about 5 sec to prime it and then she cranked right up.

Best of luck,
John
