What angle pulls a dozer blade into the ground the best? Top of the blade tilted back or the top tilted forward? Seems at times it doesn't want to dig very well. The edge is still good. This is a cable unit. Thanks. andy

Here is my two cents worth. Increasing the pitch in other words rolling the blade forward by lengthening the pitch arms, increases the cut. This is critical with cable cats. Figure that a good cuting edge is wedge shaped. as you turn the wedge into the material the point makes more direct contact. As the blsde loads up it will begin to float on the material. With out down pressure you can't do much about this. Shortening the length of your push will help a little, or know you will cut part way and push over the rest, if you need to make a cut all of the way. If it is a cut and fill operation it's not usually a big deal.

Wouldn't it be with the top tilted rearward ?? That way it allows more material to build up on the blade, thus forcing the cutting edge downward...Leaning it forward tends to allow for better grading ...

Wow .... now I am really confused. I just know it should "suck" into the ground better. The cutting edge is still good. Cat wouldn't have made anything that didn't work right ... after all look at how many years they made the old cable unit blades before this machine. Thanks andy

Top tilted foward , but becaful as not to get to aggresive as it can and will break cables and that is a pain in the you know where to restring , it is just like using a wood chiesel .
