Hello, It looks like I'm not alone with JDB pump problems, as I'm having particles build up in the return check valve like many others. From what I'm reading, this is due to the gov weight retainer disintegrating. I’m also reading that it may not be necessary to send this pump out for a full $500.00 rebuild as it may be something that I can change out myself. Since my job entails the repairing of electro/mechanical assemblies daily, I feel fairly confident when I disassemble something, I’ll be able to get it back together and operational. But a diesel injection pump may be another ballgame. So I thought I would throw the question out there for the pros and see what you think. Can these pumps be repaired by a “greenhorn” on the bench? Or maybe, is there someone out there that may provide the needed services at a reasonable cost or have a good used JDB431MD3027pump? Thanks in advance for your help! Steve

Steve in CO, I have the same pump the JDB431MD3027. Have you been able to find the parts to repair? I am in North Maine and all I have is Nortrax. They have helped me with alot of parts, but they are unable to order thr repair kits.
Thanks,
John

I took a CV pump apart and was surpirsed to see that it was a ring and vane affair. I do hydraulic pumps often , so it was no problem.
I replaced the ring and the vanes and away we went.

Steve,
I had the same problem on my Case 580D backhoe last summer. The local Stanadyne dealer provided a seal kit and governor ring for approx. $40. I think that anyone of average mechanical ability can handle this job. It helps to have a manual for the machine you're working on. If you need more info drop me an e-mail.

JDT, Thanks for the feedback. I do have a manual for the backhoe but nothing on the pump. I wonder if the Stanadyne dealer would have a manual or is there someplace a manual could be ordered from?

Steve,
I bought a manual for the pump from this site. It is around $30. Check under manuals for miscellaneous. The link below should take you to the page. You'll need to know the model you are dealing with. It should be located on a tag riveted to the body of the pump.
