I have bench tested the governor at 1750 RPM and the throttle return arm works with out the spring attached, but will not work if the spring is hooked up. the spring tensioner adjustment is backed all the way out. Does anybody know the reccommended RPM range for the pony motor?

Tom, have you found out any more info. on the pony motor RPM operating range? I was guessing that it sounded like about 1500 or 2000., thats why I checked the governor at 1750.?? Anyway, problem solved. I was guessing that it was O.K., but after taking it aqpart, I found it to be very rusty. I polished all parts and installed a new bearing and it seems to work fine now. Thnx, M.Guy

I don't have a book in front of me but I am sure it is over 3000 rpm, maybe 3300.

My Servicemen's Reference Book shows 10HP @ 3000 RPM. Tom was right on the mark.
