Hi guys: Anyone know the traveling dimensions for a 190? I'm trying to arrange shipping on the east coast of one I bought (but didn't measure), and need the height, width, and length. I've got 19,500 for weight, and I'm estimating 9'3 inches in height. Anyone have book info, or one they could measure nearby? Thanks for considering. Mike

I have a 160 that I am quite fond of. When I purchased it, it took three cans of ether to get it going, but it was running on only one cylinder the other two had burnt valves and the drain hole in the blower housing was plugged and forcing engine oil in to be burned also. It made it two miles home though. Compared to some of the new machines it is lacking if you are a contractor. On hills the reverser can be tricky to learn to operate and the 3-53 Detroit is under powered for a commercial machine. This was one of the best in its day, it is heavy and almost unbreakable. As for parts, there has been nothing that I have not been able to find up till now, not saying there wont be, just not yet. I had never worked on a diesel, but was able to do my own in frame overhaul. Have reworked several hydraulic cylinders and been able to get everything that I needed. The only repairs that had been done to my machine were the outrigger supports. A little under powered probably, but I can lift the entire rearend of the tractor with the boom and the dipper stick and move it around. I am partial I know, but no getting around the fact she is well built. If you are just looking at it for your own use and helping friends out, I think it will do you proud. If you are contractor, hold out for one of the newer models.

ah yes, the 53 series detroit. "Cheerleader engines" they jump up and down and make lots of noise, but they dont go nowhere. The 71 series is much beter.
