I think I need (want) a backhoe (another toy) to go with my 350B. I have farm tractors with loader so really don't need another loader bucket. So.....what would it cost and how hard would it be to add the backhoe attatchment to my 350B dozer? The hoe would only be used occasionaly digging out trees and draining ponds. Most of the time it would be off the crawler and in the shed. Any comments?

Thanks
John

I have a #93 backhoe on a 350 dozer 6 way blade. Unit is quik tach, 2 hooks on bottom, 2 pins on top of frame QT hydraulic line, 2 mins to remove a little longer to walk it back on. BH weighs 2775 lbs with cemetery bucket, is so extremely rear heavy can wheelie on just about anything. QT frame on dozer is 2 1" plates. Drawbar must be removed for BH attachment clearance.

Having said all that a wheeled BH is much easier on turf + has faster transport.

I have a 350B Crawler/Loader with the 9300 hoe attachment that works pretty well. The hoe comes on & off by removing (2) pins and disconnecting (2) large hydaulic lines. These lines have quick detach fittings which come apart fairly easily once you do it a couple times. Mine has a rotary cylinder that swings the boom and I believe the later models have individual cylinders doing this. I have read where some guys say the rotary cylinder is more problem prone so you may want to think about that. Mine has never been a problem to date. (Yes I am knocking on wood) The rear end of the machine becomes very heavy with the hoe attached and requires backing up any type of grade
at all. My crawler has the weights both on the sprockets and at the draw bar which is a big help as a counter balance when loading dump trucks. I removed the weights under the draw bar thinking this might help the heavy rearend, but it didn't do much. I have considered putting weight into the bucket as a counter weight but am afraid of putting this addition stress on the frame.

Thought about getting one for my straight JD350. Instead bought an old #56 Kelly 3pt. to go on my 4020 which turned out to be a pretty good match, that 90hp can dig. I think you need the loader on the front of the crawler to balance the rig ???, and is probably a bear to take on and off.
