I need to replace my track loader muffler and stack on my 125C, but the dealer wants like $800 for the set. Do you know of any replacements that are out there? Can I just fabricate something custom? Any recommendations or pitfalls on the custom I should be aware of?

I did some checking of my factory muffler on the TD7E and it is 3.5" ID inlet to go over the cast iron exhaust manifold and 3" OD on the outlet. The tail pipe is a 3" OD flaired out on the inlet to fit over the muffler outlet of the same size.

I have an IH 100E (no turbo) and it has a big truck muffler and curved chrome stack on it. The muffler is 3.5" inside diameter on both ends. This muffler is bigger and heavier than the original and has worked good for years. I do not know if it was cheaper or that is what was available with short notice. I have a Dresser TD7E (same base machine as the 100E) and it has the stock muffler and pipe, it does not look much different than a farm tractor muffler, just thicker metal. My main concern would be to not restrict the exhaust flow with a small outlet diameter (smaller than original). I have looked at using farm tractor mufflers but have not found one that I liked. International used the same engines in farm tractors that they used in the crawlers but it seems that the mufler outlet size tends to be smaller than the inlet size.

I had s similar problem on my 500E years ago. I got some 2" pipe and butt weld elbows and fabricated a new pipe from the manifold to above the hood and installed a 2" farmall M muffler on it. If I remember correctly, the new muffler was around $180.00 from IHC in 1980. New muffler for farmall M was $12.99. Well worth the time spent. Good luck.
