Has anyone ever adapted a glow plug to a 440 JD dozer? Starts great in warm weather 70-and above by once it gets to 40-50 have to use starting fluid. There is a plugged hole just above the blower in the intake track that looks like a place for one

Glow plugs are used mainly with precombustion chamber engines, old Cat or IHC. Direct injection engines use an Intake Air Heater(heating element in the intake). You would be best to install an ether injector. It injects just the right amount and should be wired through a temp switch to prevent it fireing when the engine is warm.
