Stuck in Neutral

Machine : 76 D6C10K

While Operating I, I shifted into neutral, and attempted to go to forward, and the shifter won't move into forward or reverse now, it's like something jumped out of place. I pulled the access panel off the tran, visually looked at the control body, nothing appears to be broken or out of place.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

I take it that you have a powershift trans. The early ones had a spring that forced the shifter into neutral when you shutdown and had no more trans oil pressure. This was to prevent you starting in gear and running over something or someone. Also the trans lever lock may have come apart and be blocking the lever. Disconnect the linkage from the trans and see where the problem is.

You are correct, it's a powershift Trans. As far as oil pressure in the trans, I don't think that's an issue, as it was runn/pulling fine, I checked the oil level in the trans, it was fine, wasn't even really hot, as I had only been running for a short period, but I fire it up tonight, after it's cooled and see what gives. It's like something slipped out of place or something, or got logged in the control body. It's not the trans lever lock or stick or something in the way, I checked all that.

I called the repair guy, and he wanted to verify it's still an issue after it's cooled, and if so, it's most likely something in the control body.

We'll see.

Thanks for the reply.

Take the cover off the trans and look at the detent mechanisim inside that holds you in N123 as selected. They can jam up when the shifter shaft bushings get worn. Take the spring off and see if it moves freely.
