I have a 1947 TD-9 THAT RUNS like a watch but it will boil the water out of the radiator after 20 min. of running. I don"t know if it should be rebuilt, or if there is somthing else that I could do.

Would check and see clean the radiator is ,by useing light on one side then look and see how much light was comeing throught. Like have metion s loose or bad belt can cause problem . The radiator cap gasket will also cause one run hot. The water pump impeller has come loose in some cases. There are other things to like a revserable fan on in the wrong direction .

also another thing is that the top of the rad could be plugged with dirt or a mouse nest. if you have to unbolt and clean it out.

Does the water start circulating as soon as you start the engine? If so,could be a stuck open thermostat. Take it out and boil it on the stove to see if it opens and closes properly. If it's compression in radiator, could be head gasket,or cracked head,as Hector suggests.
