I have a JD 420c, same situation, the tracks were at there max. The crawler other wise is tip top. I called Lavoy at JD Crawlers.com, his experiance said that it could be done, but, that it will wear on other parts. After the tracks had fallen off about a dozen times I deceided to go ahead and remove a section of track. This is no small task either, remember the pins are pressed in. And have been under lots of stress for lots of years. I built a sort of clamp out of 2x2 1/4" wall tube to wrap around the track to hold a 20 ton port-a-power. With the track split and laying flat on the floor the port-a-power could push against a flat surface that was welded to the tube. On the other end was a peice of round tube welded to the 2x2 that the pin could be pushed through. Next was a real long time of heating with the rose bud on the tourch so the pin could be sliped off it's seat. Also two of the idler tensioner's had to be rebuilt because of being froze up with years of dirt and rust. Not bad, 120 bucks. In the end it took 12 hours. I've put about 20 hours of use on since with no visable signs of wear on the sprokets. Good Luck
