Hi, I'm the proud new owner of a shiny new, er,a, rusty old CASE 310 gas dozer. Theres a long story about buying her but the kicker is that when I was driving her up the hill to the trailer the right side final drive just gave way. We used a 4X4 and the left side to get her up the hill then a wrecker to get her on the trailer. Now I'm in the market for a final drive for this little beauty (in the Portland Oregon area). Other than the final drive she is in fine shape for a '46. Runs great (strong, no smoke) tight clutch, sprockets look good, new track pads. The really great part is the guy I bought her from is the second owner and the first owner was his brother who bought her new. I even got the original manual and a bunch of custom tools that I have yet to figure out. I'm really excited about getting this little toy and can't wait to start pushing dirt around at my place.

Thanks in advance for help, in fact you've already helped a bunch with all the posts.
Ken

Did some more diggin" and found the serial number for my machine. It is 3008424 and according to a chart I found I have a "59 310 C. However the serial number tag only specifies a 310.
I did some serious cleaning and found the outside final cases on both sides have Terratrac casting stamps on them. How does that figure into my original final drive problem if at all (right side doesn"t drive)?
Also, I found a local guy that has a complete final drive unfortunately it is for the left hand side of the crawler. Are the internal parts interchangeable? If so, are there model/yesr breaks that I have to watch out for? The guy only wants $250 for the complete unit which seems like a steal compared to some of the prices I"ve heard for the pinion and bull gears...

Thanks again,
Ken

Thanks Charley.
There seems to be a lot of parts on my machine that have Terratrac casting IDs on them but there is also original CASE decals (extremely faded ones) on the hood and on the back of the seat so there's no mistaking it as being a CASE. The buyout explains the mix of parts.

Ken, Internal parts are the same for left and right. Also pinion and bull are the same thru many of of the models of 310.

KD, The first 310 didn't hit the market until 58. Check to see if the splines in the sprocket
failed or if you lost bearings inside.

Thanks George,
I thought the crawler looked too new to be a '46. I'll be ripping it apart this weekend to see what I've gotten myself into. I'll probably be on here again looking for guidance.
