I like to know where i can get crank and rod bearings for an old cat D7e with a 4s8840 series engine with a mecanical rear crank seal.
the cat dealers here in my part of the world say, they are no longer avalable. The crank needs to be ground, so the bearings will need to be undersized.

i do have a supposedly rebuild engine n8 sitting here but the crankshaft is 3/4" thinner than the other engine, probably less horses too. could i use this engine as replacement or would that be a mistake?.

This N8 would be for sale to

Any reply would be apriciated.

I think you have a D339 5.75" bore engine. At least that is what a D7E should have. I think the bearings are available. Post the machine serial# and I will check this weekend. The engine and machine should have the same serial #. I can't relate to this N8 engine????? Beware of supposedly rebuilt engines. And one more thing, since you have it apart or will be taking it apart the ballancer in the bottom of the engine needs to be timed to the crankshaft when it goes together.

Bob . Serial # of cat is 47A 03885 No telling if this is the original engine. This machine has been apart many times by the looks of it. I am acually fixing this cat for a naybour who bought it last year and did not even burn a halve tank of fuel before it piled up.

The only # is casting # 4S8840 on side of block Crancshaft # 4S7414

I don't know wat i was thinking on the other engine but the only number on this one is casting # 1M4844 or the M could be an H .
There is no readable plate for serial no to be found either.

Bison, I will check them out tomorrow and get back to you. Look around at the back of the engine for a flat area with two rivit holes about 2" apart, can't remember which side. That is where the plate was on it and the serial# will be stamped into the block there too.
