Hi all,

A local farm is selling an International Harvester TD-6 that they have had since "62.

He says it runs, but it is in rough shape. Looks to be all there except for the battery box and seat. I think this is to be expected considering the age...

Anyone know when this was made, sorry I don"t have the serial number. If you can give me a range of years that would be great. He said he is asking "6" for it. I assume he means $600.00...

Sure would be cool to have a tracked tractor!

Thanks,
Tim in Mass

Well if they'v had it since 62, we know it's older than that. Did he buy it new in 62?...the 6 was a popular model it seems...probably made in the 50's. Price wise...mainly depends on how good of shape the undercarriage is in, and what is it...just the tractor...does it have a blade...is the blade cable lift...two way hydralic. is it loader...maybe it has a rear mounted winch. He could be asking 600.00, but if the undercarriage is in excellent shape and lets say it has a two way hydraulic blade and maybe even a winch...then don't be surprised if he means 6,000.00. I found out real quick crawlers, even if they don't run and the undercarriage is good, they can easily bring over 1,000.00 and they are semi hard to find parts and when you do find parts get out your check book, because everything is expensive. Get us some more info and I'll get my s/n book out and find what years the td6 was made. good luck

Scott,

I will stop by on my way home from work and check out the serial number. I will post back late tonight.

It doesn"t have any attachments on it. The track looks OK, but I don"t really have an eye for tracked vehicles...

Well, I was unable to get the serial number last night. By the time I got out of work it was dark. I figured that the owner might not appreciate someone out looking at his tractor with a flashlight in the dark...

Anyways, I got the numbers this morning.

TDBK 11289T70MT15

What does this all mean?

Thanks, Tim

Not to ask a dumb question, but how do you know it's a TD-6? Looking at that # you listed it has T7 in it..I looked at my s/n book over lunch time and they made the t6 and td6 from 1940-1969. I'm trying to decipher the number you gave me, because the serial number guides don't give that whole string. The numbers they give are 5 digits up until mid 50's then on it's only a 4 digit#? where did you find this number at? It does have a S/N tag I suppose, they are ussually located on the right side if sitting in the seat on the dash, or on my 100c it would be right behind my leg under the seat you might say.
