AC 655 Allis Henry Mark V backhoe questions

I'm looking at a 655 crawler loader. Have read most everything I can find here about the HD4 & 650 series crawlers. The undercarriage on this machine is near worn out, but there is a parts machine available on which the u/c shows less wear...probably could be made to last for quite a while since it's for occasional use on a farm.
It was a cool morning when I went to look at the machine, (only a few degrees above freezing) and it wouldn't start without starting fluid. Is this normal for the 2200 series engine? (clock shows 3500 hrs).
Machine has 3 spd trans. and reverser. How durable/reliable are the reverser & trans in these? Do they give any early warning signs? Are the hydraulic systems made up of fairly standard components?

A mark V hoe comes with the machine. The current owner hasn't used it and it's been laying in the weeds for a few years. Looks like it would be a bit of a project to get it working. Are these considered to be a good unit? (agian, it's for use on a farm - not commercial use) Any parts that may be hard to get or fabricate?

first off 3500hrs and the undercariage is worn out this doent sound right. Parts are getting harder to find for hd-4 and 650 serries and exspensive when you do find them. As far as the mark v backhoe I dont think anything is available from the dealer.I have a Mark V backhoe and i just go to a local hydralic shop for parts.
