What's the easiest/simplest way to change out the liners on a 75 D4 with a winch on it?Looks like it would be easier without the winch, but is it possible without removing winch?Does the entire top come off the trans/rear housing?1 more thing, anybody got a manual/parts book for this for sale? Thanks! Tim

Hi, Tim. Yes, the whole top does come off the steering clutch case and each individual steering clutch/brake pack comes out on its own. The brakes are a contracting band arrangement that wraps right around the outer case of the steering clutch which forms the brake drum around which the brake band contracts.

It does help if you have a workshop manual for it. If you go over to Antique Caterpillar Machinery Owner's Club and post a request there, somebody will likely put up the relevant pages for you. You don't need to register to post there but it's free if you choose to register. When the link opens, scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on 'Bulletin Board'.

Hope this helps.

You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.
