I was clearing a small road, had to shut dozer down, and cut some tree limbs. I remounted the dozer, when to start it, it started fine. Before i went to move it, i heard a grinding noise. I shut the dozer off and it start again. My dozer is a 350b(diesel) w/reversor. I recently replaced steering clutches, final drive housing, and brake bands.

TL,
That could be alot of things. But the same thing happened to my 350b . I would say it is the splined shaft coupling between the reverser and trans. Pull floor pans off and check if the studs conecting the trans and reverser are loose or worse stripped. If there is a noticable crack betwwen the two {trans/reverser}You probly stripped out the {coupling. 50.00} and maybe the {trans main shaft 700.00}@ JD.They are available after market from Heavy Quip about 225.00.
To replace you need to pull motor. Front cowl assmbly. and reverser. Not to bad of a job. You will need a loader or cherry picker to lift componants and get them out of the way as you go.
Once all thats out you can remove top of trans cover {after you remove all power steering componants under seat if equipt}.Shaft will come out through tp of trans. You will need to press on gears ect with an arbor press.

I know tearing the dozer apart isn't that hard. but my biggest problem is how do i get it back to the garage to work on it. Yes the studs have been comming loose. I think the threads are okay because they always tighten back up. I have heard several people mention the isolator also causing the same problem. I have noticed a clunking sound when i would shut the dozer down. I assume that has alot to do with it.
