Need to find a track loader to clear some overgrown land. Found a little 1010 for sale, have not looked at it yet, just wondering if it would handle 8-10" diameter trees & stumps. Also, if it is in fair shape & everything is operational what should it sell for?
Thanks,
MH

I have a 1010c with a blade. I used it this summer to clear a space for a shop. Mostly taking down smallish hardwood and a lot of poplar, then grading sandy soil. I found that cutting the trees then tipping up the stumps was at the out side edge of this rigs possiblilty. Bringing the blade up and pushing over the tree, then cutting it worked great.

It's my first foray into this kind of thing, I paid $4500 for it with a like new pair of tracks, good sprockets and idlers, and fair rollers. I did end up running a track off the front idler (that was fun fixing). Due to some loose dowel bolts and sprocket bolts I also sheared the heads off of all the sprocket bolts on one side. This winter I plan on doing a proper fix on the sheared bolts, recore the rad and do brakes/clutches. I have some other projects planned then I'll likely sell it off.

Thanks,
I think its worth taking a look at. Sure would be nice to have something like that around to clear out some old fields.

Well, I rebuilt my gas 1010 crawler/loader/backhoe. I've got around $3000.00 in it. It does fine for me. No, it's not a powerhouse, but it is light and manuverable and will lift a bucket full of anything I can put in it. It all depends on what your used to, expect and are willing to spend. I've had offers of $5000.00 as it sits.

I don't disagree. My 1010 will lift just about anything. I've got the first year model, i.e. 1960 with the gear shift in the dashboard. Main problem with the lack of power is for charging into a pile of dirt and gravel and trying to scoop and move forward at the same time - it's about useless for that kind of work. Also, I live on the side of mountain where just about all travel is steep up or steep down. The crawler has just enough power to climb a very steep hill in first gear just pulling itself. Flatland would be different. I've also got a rear-ripper that came with five shanks. I had to remove two since it barely has the power to pull three in hard ground. I've seen several 1010s that have 2010 engines put into them - makes a real nice machine. I'm going to do it whenever I find a good deal on a 2010 engine. I bought mine for $1200 after it had been in a light fire from the hood up. I wound up rebuilding the engine and repacing all hoses.

1010 crawler/loader barely has enough power to move itself around empty, much less pushing on anything. It is just about the most underpowered crawler/loader Deere ever made. So, don't expect too much from it. A 350 crawler/loader is a LITTLE better, but not by much. On the other hand, the dozers of both series are fine (for small machines). As far as prices go, I see them now and then in the 2500 - 5000 dollar price range.
