My 450D doesn't have any steering clutch engagement on the left side. The brake works and will lock the track and turn. It will spin the track with a load. The left side will quit pulling if I hit the brake when pushing something. I can back up and the track will start pulling again. I went thru the adjustment process shown in the tech manuel and it did not work.Looking in the acess hole there seems to be something different on the left side than there is on the right. Seems to be something broken or missing on the brake lever or the adjustment parts. Any help would be appreciated.

The junk inside looks slightly different from side to side. I would first look at the steering valve spools under fuel tank area. Look to see if the spools are even. a lot of times someone will not adjust the spools when the tank assemblies are removed for repairs to something else below. These spools dump oil intended for the steering clutch apply oil. I would try to adjust the spool to the slipping clutch so it goes in slightly farther than it goes now. This would eliminate an adjustment problem. If after this adjustment is done and it still won't stay engaged , you might have a clutch pressure plate or oil manifold leakage problem. Then the tanks need to come off , track off. Oh heck, get a manual, This is not a job for a novice. It gets pretty involved. but if you have the " cuyones" for it. Good luck..

Roy, thanks for the reply and the help. I can see that the spring around the adjusting knob has come loose from its anchor point. I adjusted the knob out and have some steering clutch action now. It probably won"t stay in this position because I think this spring holds the adjustment in place. What do you think would have caused the spring to come loose? Do you think I should go ahead and pull the steering clutches out and rebuild everything? Thanks again. Rudy

It sounds as if the retaining "e" clip might have slipped off causing the lever to come off the end of the adjustment pin..

I went and ordered the parts to rebuild the steering clutch today. I figured that I need to go into the steering clutch housing to repair the spring and assembly so I may as well put new disks in the clutch along with new seals. Hopefully this will solve the problem. Thanks for all your info. Rudy
