I reciently acquired a IH500 with a bad engine. It is a four cylinder diesel without markings that I can find. What engine would be in this model crawler? Will this engine cross from an ag tractor and where would one start to look for one?
Bob

I heard these crawlers came with two different types of diesel motors. One was a 4 cyl IH motor and the other was a 3 cyl German made unit (Neuss?). Apparently the German motor is not easy to find parts for (in the states anyway).

Here's a few links that might help...

Are you sure it's a 4 cyl. diesel? I own a 500c also and mine has a 3 cyl. diesel. It should be a D-155 model. Kurt
