How do you check the fuel pump and purge air from the injector lines? I took the injector line loose and did not have any fuel at injector. The last time i used it about 2 month ago it ran fine?

It is a BPE. I loosed the line at the injector. Also I loosened the line from the tank and fuel flowed out freely. The injector line at the injector just dripped when i turned the engine over. I am thinking it is air locked.

You say you loosened the line at the tank? What about checking fuel flow from the little fuel pump on side of the injection pump? Is it delivering a clean flow of fuel to the inlet of the injector pump? The check valves go bad with time and perhaps it's not pumping well enough. Repacement parts are still available, but you can do just as well by eliminating it and installing and electric pump.

The injection pump (actually four little plunger pumps) will clean themselves out if fuel is being delievered to them. I've run mine out fuel many times and had no problem.

I'm not quite sure what it is you're trying to figure out. The older BD-144 engine with the CAV DES in-line four-plunger pump has its own plunger-type fuel transfer pump bolted to the side of the injection pump housing. Sounds like you have a later engine with the CAV rotary distributor type pump which uses a separate diaphram type fuel pump that bolts to the engine and runs off the camshaft. Regardless, if you crack the fuel line where it goes into the injection pump and get it running clear, and then crack your injector lines at the injectors, and crank, it will clear itself of air - unless the fuel pump or injection pump has a serious problem.

Explain how you are doing this and what injection pump you have. Also did you just loosen the line at the injector I hope?

The pump on these is a model C.A.V., type D.P.A. Same as used on an IH B-275 wheel tractor.
