Hi
I have a 410 backhoe, and the larger O ring between the pressure relief valve housing and the gearbox is only lasting 2 hours, I know someone who had the same machine with the same problem, and ended up selling the machine. The pressure relief valve is not jammed and there are no spacers to increase the pressure. Anyone know what the problem could be??

You have to torque the bolts with a torque wrench..35ft.lbs.....Also Deere made a white nylon type of o-ring instead of the black neophrene. They work better than black o-rings.If it still blows , change the presure relief valve housing . I've done more of these than I care to remember. If you have to change the housing , Make sure that the relief valve inside the housing is free . There is a small semi pointed piece in the end of the spool. that semi pointed part should move with moderate presure. If it's stuck , disassemble it and file the pointed part on its O.D. so it slips in with-out hanging up. Also there might be some washers or shims in there. The washers can be hammered out and keep that valve from moving . Put back the same amount of shims or washers back in. thats an adjustment that needs to remain as you found it.

Thanks Roy. Do you have a part number for the Nylon O ring, Do you know roughly how much it would cost to replace the the pressure relief valve and housing.

Thanks Michael

No I don't know the number or the price. A good old industrial equipment dealer should be able to help you.. It's been a bunch of years since I've had to change one of those housings..I don't do this full time anymore , just as a sideline...
