I have a 1984 3C 1400 JCB. Works pretty good but got to have the engine reved up high to make the hydrulics work good. Also how high should the engine be rpm's when normal working conditions?

The machine should perform well at 1500rpm but when doing a pressure test it is done at full throttle,if the pump is strong and the pressure set to spec when you pull a lever with the engine at low idle it would stall it,after 20 years the pressure may need adjustment or the pump is getting worn, the main reg valve is under your right foot sitting in the seat, there is a quick break coupling for the gauge there also it usually has a red plastic cover it.
