Good idea to get the serial number off the tractor and then find the matching serviceman's reference book, operator instructions, parts catalog, see what they called for then and get the modern equivalent. Here's what I looked up: 80 or 90 wt. for the transmission ( direct drive ) lighter for below 32F, heavier for above but if I recall correctly, SAE-30W was ok for an oil clutch, I have an old Mobil lube chart for D-2's to D-9's it shows the same as the engine oil, but their nomenclature is from 1960, they call it: DELVAC S230 or 930 above 32F, or DELVAC S210 or 910 below 32F, you may want to make sure of what the modern equivalent is, I am guessing it's 30 wt. Not sure if non detergent would be more preferable,(if can be found ) say like on the oil bath air breather, starting engine etc. non det. lets contaminants settle out, not suspend them, so the bad stuff is supposed to settle in the sump at the bottom, the oil clutch may have a filter element of some sort, it is mentioned, so det. oil might be fine. Oils can get really technical, and people have strong opinions about what they use, I just try to stick with what the MFR. called for and or the closest modern equivalent, checking for matching specifications called for and or the best brand offered.
