MY 1980 450 JD IS IN NEED OF DRIVE SPROCKETS VERY BAD. THE CHAINS ARE WORN ALSO BUT, FOR SOME REASON UNKNOWEN TO ME THE TRACKS ARE TURNED AROUND. WHEN I PUT NEW OR REBUILT SPROCKETS ON I'LL TURN THE TRACKS AROUND SO THEY RUN THE RIGHT WAY, WHICH SHOULD PREVENT THE RUNNING OF NEW SPROCKETS WITH WORN OUT CHAINS. AT LEAST ON THE FORWARD SIDE. HAVING SAID THIS, DOES ANYONE CLOSE TO THE STATE OF IN. HAVE A SET OF SPROCKETS A POOR MAN CAN AFFORD? OR, AS THIS IS MY OWN DOZER AND USED ONLY ON MY SMALL FARM, SHOULD I TRY TO HAVE MY SPROCKETS WELDED UP AND USE THEM? THANKS TO ALL IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR HELP.

You can get the weld on rings for 100-150 $ each, it is worth having a machine shop do it for you so it will all be true and round.
How bad are rails (chains)? can they be rebushed?

Try Zimmerman Equipment in Versailles, Missouri he has a large bone yard. He will also have the rings but he may not want to sell just the rings. Good luck

Seems to me there was a company called Pigeon that made weld in inserts for sprockets. I never saw any, but I've seen them in Rock and Dirt a paper from Crossville Tenn.

I purchased a set of sprocket rings that are welded onto the old sprocket hubs for my 1010 for $100.00 a ring. I thought that was reasonable. The rings are made by Berco (made in Italy). Misplaced the invoice D-----! They should have rings for the 450 I would guess.
