HI... I was wondering if anyone out there was looking for a good condition original crawler we have owned it for 20 years and loved it, however if we could find a good "show" home and the price was fair we are looking to upgrade. The paint is great, decals,etc.. one side final drive have been replaced with new parts in the last couple of years. I'm located in Binghamton,NY. I have done research into the value, so please no dealers,etc.. who want it for nothing...

Thank you,

It would have to be one of the best in the world to bring that. Good ones go for $3500-$4500 I did have one a couple of years ago bring $5500. it was very sweet, If yours was just about not used and had the tool bar on it that was perfect well then maybe but have fun with all the tire(track) kickers. People don't realize how much to fix one i have a customer that has about 12000. in his right now i bet he would have a hard time selling for over $6500. This is just my opinion but i deal with them 24/7 for a living. Good Luck, I hope you prove use wrong :)

Thanks for the input.. We use it lightly.. to do easy grading of our riding arena, move stone around it could use a bath, but the mechanics are sound. I would come down to 6500 if it was going to go to a collector. I set it high because I haven't found a replacement yet and I'm not really in a hurry to part with it.I have the original manuals, and the service guides on it as well. Thanks again...

Help Me Rhonda! Sorry I couldn't resist. I'm interested, but would like to know more about the undercarriage i.e. pins & bushings, sprockets and rollers. Any transmission noise or excessive oil burning in engine? If you've done some research, you must have a price in mind! Thanks, T

HI.. We had the crawler checked out by a dealer 2 years ago, when they rebuilt the one side final drive with all new parts. They said it was in good shape all the way around. No transmission noise or excessive oil burning. They said that the other final drive side should be redone in a few years. We were looking to get in the ballpark of 8K or a reasonable offer. Thanks,R

I would not place much stock in the value guide, it is basically meaningless. There is no way a rough MC is worth $5,000. You may not like the answer, but that is the truth. What you have in it for parts does not necessarily mean that is what it is worth, there are a lot of restored crawlers out there that have way more in them then they are worth, several of mine included. What they were going for in a certain year means nothing either. I collect nothing but John Deere crawlers, and have for over 15 years. During that time, the values have not increased that significantly.
There is a restored MC that I know of right now that the owner wants about $5500 for it, and has had it for sale for many months with no luck.
That is not to say you won't get it, but I doubt it. The people that have replied on here are right on as far as the values they have given, and those values will encompass the lion's share of MC's out there.
