My TD7e calls for IH Hy Trans, and some other
stuff for the tranny.

I was way low,and had some work to do, so filled
tranny with Automotive Dextron ATF.

Was this a bad thing?

You will not have a problem with the situation as an emergency. With the oils today, all are good just some better than others. I recommend that you check the specs and choose what oils are recommended and then change and stick with that one brand/type. Synthic and hydrocarbon oils mixed can jell up and ruin a transmission or gear box so don't mix any more than for an emergency and change as soon as possible. If it is an automatic tansmission you can flush with diesel for a few minutes (2-3) and drain evey thing and install the oils that you are going to use. Be sure to let the diesel drain completely and no load on anything or fast idles. I even flush engines with diesel but mix 60/40 oil and diesel. This will work with a transmission or gear box also if you worry about burning one up. have had no problems on marine transmission, diesel engines, truck and heavy equipment. Ensure no loads and no above idle speed and besides ensure complete drainage change all filters and fill the filters if possible with the oil you are going to use.

If you want your equipment to last you should use the SAME oil all the time. mixing oils can cost you lots of $$$$$$$$

Since I dont know what was in it, and
it calls for like 4 different oils, it seems
your warning is abit moot... :)

once again if you want your equipment to last, you would have found out what was in it, and if you are so concerened about the four oils then why did you go dump one completly different one in your tranny? last but not least "you" asked if "you had done a bad thing" I won't be suttle "@#$% yes", have a great day:)
