Probably wouldn't hurt to put new fuel filters on it,fresh fuel and bleed the system before starting. Also unless it has been converted to 12v a 500 is 24 volt same as a 3020 of the same vintage. If it has been converted to 12 v it should have negative ground if it has an alternator.Might pay to do some checking on the electrics.
