I'm replacing the shaft for the upper carrier roller. I have access to a 20 ton press to remove the old shaft. But I've been told it takes a much larger press to do this job. So can anyone tell me what size press is needed?
Thanks.

If you are replacing the shaft, I assume it's junk, so cut most of the end off with a torch, then burn a pretty big hole through what's left, the remaining shell should press out fairly easily. Freeze the new one and press it in while the bracket is still warm.

I'd give it a try with the press you have available...not sure what the exact force required is...whoever told you it needed much more was maybe thinking of the track chain pins. If it doesn't move...then u know you need to try a bigger press..
