I've been looking for a year or more and final bought a dozer. It’s a 90 or 91 Mitsubishi BD2G-II with powershift and wide tracks. It didn’t come with an operator/maintain manual or a service manual so I’ve ordered both, I also order a filter kit. The dozer was delivered Sunday afternoon so out into the brush I went to begin to learn. I have 29 acres and need to do some dam repair, brush, & fence line clearing. Taking it slow and easy the little dozer worked great on the easy small stuff. After about 45 min of running I noticed the battery cover had made contact with the battery and had a red hot spot on the latch of the cover. I shut things down, took off the battery cover and placed some rubber insulation under the cover to protect the battery connections. Started her up and ran for another 45 min. At some point the battery light came on, probably as soon as I restarted, but I didn’t notice it for a while. Anyway, I ran for about 45 min after I added insulation to the battery cover. Then when I shut it off it wouldn’t restart. Acts like no juice to the starter. I hate electrical problems, I hope I didn’t fry something. It was dark and I haven’t had a chance to look at it yet. Any ideas?

The problem of no juice to the starter was as simple as it gets. Just had to clean up the connections.

I kind of have the same problem, I was working on my BDG2 and had the dash panel off and my 16 month old daughter decieded to put my screw driver in to the exposed backing of the stater switch the dozer started, the key was not in it and run for about 5minutes before I could get it shut off now it will not start. WHat is th deal??

I hope you got the dozer working again, I noticed it has been quite some time ago. I could give you some things to look for that would cause the symptoms but you probably got her going now.

Those units are good machines, but they have electronic gagues.....you often find the hour/fuel meters not working,so you have to buy a new chip for the gagues.I'm not sure if your problems relate to this, but worth checking.
I believe that heavy equipment & light electronics are a stupid mix..... .

I did not know that the machine was 24 volt. Just double the voltages in my other post

Hi, I'm almost suprized that it restarted. It's quite likley that your alternator has been damaged, possibly the battery as well. I would start by mesuring the battery voltage with a meter, you should have 13 to 13.5 volts. If it's lower you should charge the battery before starting. If it wont start, or turn over I would look for a burnt wire or fuseable link near the starter solonoid. If it starts and runs, measure the voltage at the battery, and the biggest terminal of the alternater. They should be very close to the same, any where from 14 to 15.9 volts. If not the alt is damaged
