I wonder if someone could email me information regarding procedure for timing crankshaft engine balancer on D-47U Vintage 1960 (?) This is an internal balancer that is gear driven by the crankshaft gear. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

get the engine on TDC 1& 4 lower the oil pump enough that the balancer shafts will turn free, there is a threaded hole in the plate where the oil pan bolts up, run a 3/8 nc bolt in the holes BY HAND turn the shaft until the bolt goes in the hole in the shaft and locks it, tighten the OP so the OP gear turns the shafts. I can scan u the pages from a service manual : rplumadore@comcast.net

Harold, the ballancers turn at twice the crankshaft speed and the weights must be down when any piston comes to TDC. Turn the engine over untill #'s 1&4 are on TDC. Turn the ballancers untill they are down at the bottom and engage the drive gears. The two gears on the ballancers should have timing marks to keep them in time with each other too.
