Where can a person purchase parts at reasonable costs for a JCB. I just bought a seal kit for the hydraulic drive motor for an older Model 807 excavator and the cost was $625. The high prices are taking the fun out of these hobbies!

Thanks NCW for responding to my question. I'm at the age (65+) where I should know better than to be playing with this junk but the addiction to grease is somtimes difficult to overcome. The machine is in good condition for it's age: undercarriage is at least 75%, hydraulics are strong, turntable doesn't wobble, paid $6800. for it, so I suppose I can put a few $ into it but I still don't like getting hammered for parts.

Unfortunately you've got a brand that is no fun to buy parts for. The only ones having fun are the execs at the top of the chain living high on the hog on all the parts money their raking in. I work on equipment for a living and while I don't know every parts place out there I know quite a few and can usually find a good deal on the parts I need. Recently I was attempting to help a friend find a part for a JCB machine. He had found it through the dealer, but for an outrageous price, and asked me to see what I could do. I got in all my parts magazines, looked for web sites, and even tried going through the real/"name brand" OEM for the part and came up empty. Everybody that carried the parts were "OEM" dealers and had the same price or greater than he had found, and the actual part OEM couldn't sell anything because the pieces he needed were propietory for JCB. I wish I could give you some good news in this situation and tell you that parts can be had easy and cheap through "company X" but unfortunately there isn't any good news because "company X" doesn't exist. If you want a machine that you can get plenty of parts for, both OEM and quality aftemarket, sell the JCB off and get you an older CAT. Your wallet will thank you in the end.
