Unless its a very new breaker the breaker fitted to the JCB Hammer Master was a Montabert 125,JCB gave it their own number but all that was JCB was the carrier frame, all backhoe loaders that I"v fitted Montabert breakers to had to have a separate 1" return line fitted going straight back to the tank and not going through the valve block,it would need a 3/4" feed, the flow required is 50Lts min to 100Lts max,so the LS190 has plenty, the blow rate between 400 and 800 a min,the most common problems for no breaking power can be that the quick break coupling are not letting the oil through, too much restriction in the return line or the gas is low in the accumulator,to find a number on the unit look above the chuck,if its a Montabert it only has one accumulator which sits on top of the cylinder with a row of bolts close together securing it.

Do you know where I can get literature on the specs of that hammer (Mainly curious on the foot-pound impact rating). Thanks

Is the gas in the accumulater a problem that can be fixed in a repair shop? Is the gas nitrogen? I'll hook it back up and try to determine the impact per minute with the RPMs around 2200. Would a flow rate problem only affect the impacts per minute and not the impact itself. Thanks for your help.

Steve, I have seen several spec"s sheets on many types of breakers and have never seen the blow impact, just the same as you won"t see the compression of a diesel engine, the gas is nitrogen, the accumulator on the Montabert never leaks unless the diaphragm is punctured, then it has to be changed,it is service centre job,the diaphragm is like that you would see in the brake chamber of a truck, the snag with the Montabert is you have to have special equipment to fill it with nitrogen, most other breakers you can do it yourself it is as simple as pumping a tyre, usually what is done is you remove the accumulator and take it to the shop,to remove it you only remove every second bolt,ie the accumulator is in two parts with the diaphragm in between, short bolts hold the unit together and the longer bolts hold it to the cylinder,if you got the return pipe pulsing badly it is certain that gas is gone,if you have the same size pipes on both make sure that the feed is to the feed etc,I"v got lots of very expensive gauges and flow meters ect as I am in the business but if the breaker is working properly you know in two seconds by the chatter coming from it without any clocks.
