Operating D7J winch

I need help with the operation of a D7J winch. I have a manual but it is not clear to me. It is a 2 handle control, 1 tall one which says control lever, 1 short one which says free spool hand lever. Sure would appreciate if someone could walk me through this.

Jim, I think the control will power the drum in either direction but not sure. Free spool takes the brake off and lets the cable free to spool out by a load or by pulling it. They usually draw in through the brake so the load is held when you stop drawing.
