Roy, I pulled the engine an the high-low-reverse clutch pack. I found part of the screen filter that is supposed to be in the accumulator valve in the clutch manifold. It was blocking one of the passages that go to the shift valve. The throw out bearing, pressure plate fingers, and the rod ends that you use to adjust the clutch valve are all worn out. Hopefully the blocked passage is the cause of my problem of not being able to adjust the speed of shift.Where is a goodplace to buy after market parts for JD dozers?

Please make sure the clutch cross shaft and link is free at the clutch pedal base.Check the accumulator for being stuck in the bore. I've never seen this but it's worth looking at. Both will give a harsh shift. As far as parts, I would use Deere only. I haven't seen trans parts aftermarket . I use an independent for some parts that he can buy better prices than I can.[Paint Valley Equipment Millersburg , Ohio]. A couple of years ago I bought engine frame rails from them for $ 290.00 as opposed to $ 960.00 from Deere. And they fit!!!!.

The clutch shaft and the piston in the accumulator are all free. The clutch manifold bore that feeds oil to the clutches has some ridges where the piston rings ride, and one of the piston ring locks was broken.John Deere wants $415 for a clutch disc, and an aftermarket is about $90. I would'nt buy aftermarket transmission parts such as gears etc. but they are kinda high on some of their stuff.

I think the aftermarket clutch disc would be fine, they are no different than car and truck clutches and they get aftermarket clutches installed most of the time. As for the HL-R parts,Roy is right. I have looked extensively and the only parts I could find was a resleeved manifold at Depco, in Indy for $350, Deere wants $1000(depcoparts.com) If it has grooves in it I would replace it. These are no fun, especially when you have to go back in the second time. Also,Gulf South equipment in Baton Rouge has good prices on used parts and they have a large inventory(brokentractor.com)

I have been trying to get ahold of Gulf South all of this week, but there is no answer. The same for the people I get parts from in San Antonio. Everyone must have taken off for the holidays.Hopefully they will be back to work tomorrow.
