I was wondering if it is advantagous (also if it they can be reused on the new hose) to reuse the Reusable ends on my 2" Hyd hose or if I should just get a new hose with press on ends? If it can be done what is the best way to unscrew the fitting. One fitting came right apart the other one is really tight. Can I heat it up to loosen it?

Thanks

It has been my exp that you need to purchase the hose and ends from the same supplier. Northern Hyd is a good source. It works well when you are in a project and want to fit a hose with out a trip to town.

In addition to this good question and answers where can I find the Hyd.Hose Splice Kits that I used to get from Lawson Products. Our sales rep said they discontinued them because of being too dangerous with liability issues involved. They where great when you blew a hose on the dozer or whatever way out in the brush somewhere. Just a hacksaw and a crescent wrench and it as repaired. I will admit that they should not be used on High Pressure Units like Excavators However on the smaller hoses on the TLB and small Dozers they where great. CB48

To reuse the reusable ends the inside piece comes out first, right hand thread. Then the outside piece comes off the hose, left hand thread. The 2,000 psi hose you can change yourself, the 4,000 psi hose you need a power machine. You should buy the hose ends (aero quip) hose to get the best results. I have never had any problems using Aero Quip reuseable ends or hose. I have changed then all myself except the 4,000 psi ends. Someone other than aero quip might make reuseable ends, they should all work about the same, good luck.

Where can I get the the collars? We use alot of 3/4 hoses and reusing the fittings would save a lot.I've saved fittings for years, but never found a source of the collars.

You need the proper hose for the fittings you have. One of the 2 parts is left hand threaded. From memory I believe it is the outter collar that is left hand thread. Some times you have to remove the outter rubber cover off the hose to make it work. Sometimes I have had toalso remove some of therubber from inside the inner portion of the hose with a drill or a knife to get it to go together. If using the exact right hose this modifications should not be necessary. To buy resuable ends and hose is more expensive than crimped on ends but to use old ends and just buy new hose is cheaper than buying complete new hose with crimped on ends. I have also taken a grinder to the crimped on part and salvaged the inner fitting to be reused with a crimped on fitting when the fitting was a odd fitting that I could not buy new and used a new crim coller with it.
