My father and I recently bought a very old JCB( that is it's older than me), hoping to restore it to full health. We transported it across the country and started work straight away. We have a early 3C Mark II, possibly Mark I, JCB. It has a small dashboard, which is it's most striking feature, leading us to believe it may be older than a Mark II. Also on that little dash panel there are small red warning light above the switched to show that two of the four light switches are on or off. We have been making great progress in restoring this machine to it's former glory. We have battled with a broken front axle, ceased brakes, missing steering and oceans of rust. However as we draw close to the end of restoration we face on more project, the electrics! We have no diagrams as to what switches are connected to which wires. And to make life even more difficult somebody has been cutting off wires, seemingly at random! We would be very grateful if you could help us with any diagrams or sources of diagrams of the wiring of the switch board. Or even a workshop manual. Looking forward to hearing from you soon! Many thanks! Happy New Year!

The first JCB"s were built on the Fordson Major and that was used up to the mid sixties, then they changed over to Nuffield later to become Leyland till about 1980 when JCB built a custom chassis esp for a backhoe.try Ebay for a book or even the dealer.

Hi. I got a reproduction manual off ebay uk for about £50. Quite expensive but it's dug me out of a couple of holes (pun unintentional). The sellers ID is manual-finder-uk (usual disclaimer).
He's recently emailed me to let me know he now does Leyland engine manuals...
Hope this helps, JV.

BTW I've posted a couple of pics of my 3CII on the JCB club yahoo group...
