Anybody know which series D5's and 650's are best for the money? Early '90s thru '00. Need it for finish work and just pushin' dirt. Found a '00 D5C Hystat with 2400hrs & 80% U/C for $43K. Looks good but don't have much experience with them. Would like some advice. Thanks in advance.

I was looking for this size crawler several years ago. I didn't look at a D5 hystat, but at a regular D5C. Seemed to be a good machine, but ended up with a Dresser TD-9H (98 year). This has been a very good machine, and the price was considerably less than a D5. They made these from the early 90's until now. (Still being made). The Komatsu D39E is made by Dresser also. The Dresser (now Dressta) company is partly owned by Komatsu. The bolts and hoses are US threads. The engine (Cummins) is metric. I'd highly recommend this model.

I have not seen any Dressers in my area, but I'll start looking. I have seen a few Komatsus. Their owners speak highly of them.

Appreciate your input
